Stone Mountain

Stone MountainStone Mountain is about sixteen miles (26 kilometers) east of Atlanta, Georgia. It rises over seven hundred ft (210 meters) above the encompassing terrain. It’s about 2 miles (three.2 kilometers) lengthy and 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) vast.

A sculpture carved into one aspect of the mountain is a memorial to the wrestle of the Accomplice States through the American Civil Struggle (1861-1865). The sculpture consists of Accomplice leaders Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson, all on horseback. The sculpture was begun in 1923. Nevertheless, quite a lot of issues delayed its completion till 1969. The sculpture is about ninety ft (27 meters) excessive and one hundred ninety ft (fifty eight meters) large.
