The North Pole is a point in the Arctic region of the world. There is really more than one kind of north pole.
The north geographic <<JEE uh GRAF ihk>> pole is near the center of the Arctic Ocean. Usually people think of it as the northernmost point on Earth. The lines of longitude<<LAHN juh tood>> meet there. Lines of longitude are drawn from north to south on maps and globes. Another north pole is the north magnetic pole. It is the magnetic point on Earth that compass needles point to. This pole moves because Earth’s magnetism changes. Right now, it is close to an island off northern Canada.
