The Coral <> Sea is part of the Pacific Ocean. It lies between the northeast coast of Australia, the Solomon Islands, and the Vanuatu island group. It has an unusually giant variety of atolls (coral islands) and financial institution reefs.

United States and Japanese naval forces fought a key battle within the Coral Sea throughout World Struggle II (1939-1945). It was fought in Might 1942. Neither aspect gained a transparent-minimize victory. Nevertheless, the battle marked the primary time within the conflict that the Japanese have been stopped from advancing.
