Rio GrandeRio Grande <> is likely one of the longest rivers in North America. It flows via the Southwestern United States. Early Spanish explorers gave the river its identify. Rio Grande means “giant river.” Mexicans name the river Rio Bravo, which suggests “daring river,” or Rio Bravo del Norte, which suggests “daring river of the north.”

The Rio Grande begins within the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. It crosses into New Mexico, flows via the middle of that state, after which flows into Texas. There the Rio Grande types a part of the border between america and Mexico.
