Sinai Peninsula


Sinai PeninsulaSinai <<SY ny>> Peninsula is a part of Egypt. A peninsula is a bit of land virtually surrounded by water. The Sinai Peninsula lies east of the Suez Canal and the Gulf of Suez. It borders western Israel. Most of Egypt is in Africa. However the Sinai Peninsula is in southwestern Asia.

The Sinai Peninsula is a dry land with a number of small oases  (fertile spots within the desert) . Individuals have lived there for a lot of hundreds of years.Egypt gained management over the peninsula in 1906. Israeli troops occupied the Sinai through the 1967 Arab-Israeli conflict. The Israelis withdrew from the Sinai Peninsula in 1982. Sharm ash Shaykh is a well-liked resort metropolis on the peninsula’s southern tip.
