Lake Michigan

Lake MichiganLake Michigan is the third largest of the Nice Lakes and the one one which lies absolutely inside america. Lake Michigan extends southward into Michigan, dividing that state into two peninsulas. Wisconsin and Illinois type the lake’s western border. A small a part of Indiana touches the southern finish of the lake.

Lake Michigan covers 22,300 sq. miles (fifty seven,800 sq. kilometers). The lake’s most depth is 925 ft (282 meters), with a mean depth of 279 ft (eighty five meters).

Lake Michigan empties into Lake Huron by way of the Straits of Mackinac. The St. Lawrence Seaway connects Lake Michigan with the Atlantic Ocean. The Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal and the Chicago and Illinois rivers join the lake with the Mississippi River.
